Cheaper than Disposables:On average a saving of £500 pounds over the time a child is in nappies. Even parents that change from disposables to cloth later still make a significant saving, and more for the second or third use of the nappies. Easier to use:Most parents will not leave a dirty disposable in the house, even if in a nappy bag, so face having to empty kitchen bins at least daily or a trip out to the outside bin with every nappy change. Better for Baby:The health benefits of using a real nappy far out way that of using a disposable. Helping to position hips, pad bottoms for those first steps. Less chemicals involved close to newborn skin. Less Likely to Leak:Disposables often will leak explosive poo at the back, around the legs, as a result causing parents to wash far more clothing. Because of the design of real nappies this is much less likely to happen. Better for the Enviroment:Despite a recent report claiming otherwise, Disposable nappies do contribute to a drastic amount of landfill sites, which in Britain we are rapidly running out of. Disposables take hundreds of years to degrade, a legacy we are leaving for our children, as well as the materials used in disposables all having a negative effect. No "smell":Disposable nappies naturally give off a smell - a combination of gels and chemicals, even with nappy sacks this still slowly fills a house. With Cloth nappies there are no chemicals involved and as a result, no lingering dirty nappy smells. Potty Training.Reports link cloth nappies to sooner potty training, at around 18 months children are more aware of having a wet nappy against their skin. |
